We spent July mostly hiding indoors, except for July 4th and a trip out to Washington; most of the time was spent with each other in close proximity. Most of the time that was great, sometimes we drove each other mad. Thank goodness for date nights and play dates.
Our trip to Washington was great. It was literally booked about 12 days before we left. Traveling with foster children is logistically challenging. But once we got going, it was awesome. Due to the last-minute bookings, there wasn’t a ton available, so we had to be a bit flexible with what we wanted versus what was actually available. We ended up coming up with a neat trip that included Mt. Baker, North Cascades National Park, Leavenworth, and a bit of the Enchantments. The trip was challenging and fun in all the right ways. Washington is simply our favorite state to visit in the heat of summer. We went last year and couldn’t resist the chance to return. We’re working on a blog for that trip with tons of photos and videos, but for now, here’s a small taste of the beauty Washington has to offer.
August was the start of something new as it always is. The kids started school, and you both mourn and celebrate as life flies by, your kids' independence growing. Georgia got a few nice days of faux fall that brought outside playtime and brought the cockroaches inside. Some pork butts were smoked and Top Golfs golfed. Speak Easy supper club’s attended and crappy Spy Kids movies watched.
